Are you ready to finally start achieving some of those big goals you’ve been dreaming of? If you’ve been struggling with setting goals let alone achieving any of them, then you need to read about the 3 secrets on how to set and fulfill achievable goals.

- “I haven’t achieved any of my goals…but I’d like to.”
- “I don’t believe in goal-setting.”
Raise your hand if you’ve ever had any of these thoughts (ok, you don’t *actually* need your raise your hand. But if you did, high-five to you!).
When I did a survey a few months ago, the resounding feedback was the same across the board:
- Goal-setting doesn’t work
- Goals are hard to achieve (or even impossible)
- You’ve been discouraged about the goal-setting process
- You don’t believe in goal-setting anymore, so you don’t do it
Well, my love, you’re not alone. And the good news is…you’re right!
Goal-setting doesn’t work because of one simple thing that you need to change: you need to be setting goals that are achievable so that you can actually be able to achieve them. I mean… DUH, right?!
BUT….I’m not saying that you shouldn’t dream big. Far from it.
What I think instead is that there needs to be a natural progression. You can’t go from 0 to 10 in a split second. There are steps to follow and depending on how big the dream is, it takes time. And depending on the goal, you might be able to achieve it..in the future.
The problem with setting TOO big goals, especially in the beginning (i.e. if you’re a goal-slaying newbie….HEY girl HEYYYY!) is that you can easily get discouraged and just give up on the whole goal-setting process.
And that’s what I want to avoid.

Because goal-slaying is a marathon, not a race. You can’t have and do everything all at once. Not only is it not possible, but you also don’t want to get discouraged and disillusioned and then give up.
So here are 3 secrets you set and fulfill ACHIEVABLE goals. This will help you narrow it down and figure out the goals that are relevant and reasonable right now, so that you can gain momentum. Once you’ve learned the ropes and the techniques of goal-slaying, you WILL be able to achieve your bigger goals.
Secret # 1 | Dream Big…the right way
Ok, so I do want you to dream big and let your imagination run wild and come up with everything you’ve ever wanted.
But here’s the secret – I don’t want you to only think of THINGS you want. I want you to dig deeper and think about more inspiring and empowering goals that you’d like to achieve.
The first secret to setting achievable goals is for the goals to have a deeper meaning and purpose to them. You have to truly understand the WHY behind your goals so that have meaning and give you the drive and motivation that you need. Not only with this create more alignment with your life, but it’ll make it easier for you to be able to take action towards your goals.
To dream big, the right way, so that you can set inspired goals, ask yourself, questions like:
- Who do you want to be?
- What do you want to do?
- What do you want to own?
- What do you want to experience?
- Who do you want to meet?
- How do you want to feel?
- What career do you want?
- What impact do I want to have on those around me?
- What do I want to be remembered for?
With these questions in mind, sit down with a piece of paper (and a pen, duh) and let your imagination run wild. This is your time to write down EVERY. SINGLE. THING that you’ve always dreamed of. There are no limits. Anything you want, write it down.
I want you to let go of any limitations that might come up – no one is going to be judging you or grading you on your list. This is YOUR dreams list. These are the things that YOU want. And no one is going to see this list, so have fun with it!
Tap into your inner child and let yourself roam around a candy store and grab anything that your heart desires.
Write down everything that comes to your mind and don’t stop until you’ve really run out of ideas. I want your hand to HURT by the end of this exercise.
Take a 5 minute break if you need to but I really want you to completely run out of ideas before you stop this exercise.
Secret # 2 | Narrow it down … pick your top 3
Alright, time to reign it back a little.
Don’t worry, the fun isn’t over. But to be able to fulfill your dreams and to help you gain momentum and start seeing the endless possibilities, we do have to pace ourselves a little. And that starts with picking your top 3 goals that resonate the most with you.
I’m not saying to forget about the other dreams, I’m just saying that we need to focus our energy on the top 3 goals that make you feel the most excited right now.
By narrowing it down, your goals will be more achievable because you will have only 3 goals to focus on. You will have more emotional and mental space to have time to really strategize and create an effective plan.
Narrowing it down to your top 3 goals will help you zero in on where your energy and time need to go for a while, until you’ve slayed those goals.

So to pick the top 3 goals that you will focus on first, go through your dreams list and pick the top 3. You probably already have an idea of which ones are your top goals.
If you’re not sure, then base yourself on your intuition and your heart – pick the goals that make you feel jittery with excitement, that give you butterflies in your stomach at the thought of achieving them.
I want you to find the goals that connect with you on a deep emotional level. Don’t restrict yourself and pick a goal that you think is reasonable. Eff that. Pick your DREAM goals!

Secret # 3 | Be realistic and strategize
To be able to fulfill achievable goals, you now need to create a realistic strategy. This means that you will have to be realistic about your lifestyle, how much time you can and will be able to commit to implementing your strategy, and what you’re willing to sacrifice to achieve your goals.
Take the time to look at your top 3 goals and for each, ask yourself: what’s it going to take to fulfill each of them? What are steps that you need to take? Do you need to learn a new skill? Do you need to go back to school? Do you need to move? How much time will it realistically take? How much time are you willing to commit to it?
Don’t worry about how big or small the tasks are, just figure out EXACTLY what you need to do for each of them, we’ll worry about the HOW later.
You have to create a plan of action that is realistic of your current circumstances, including your lifestyle, your budget, the “size” of the goal.
It doesn’t mean that your goal isn’t achievable! It just means that you are being realistic and making an informed decision so that you avoid being disappointed and your timeline is REALISTIC!
Because that’s thing about goals – you can set and fulfil any goals that you dream of, but you’re just going to have be realistic about the timeline and what it’s going to take to achieve them.
If you haven’t set your goals yet, now is the time to do it. Now that you have the inspiration and momentum, just do it. Commit to yourself and get it done.
