Goal-slaying is about the journey, not the destination. Here’s everything you need to know about slaying your goals so that you can be prepared to tackle anything that comes your way.
Slaying your goals and achieving your dreams is not going to be what you expect. The journey is fulfilling the goals you set for yourself is going to be unexpected and full of challenging moments that, if you push through it, will give you results beyond your imagination.
I strongly believe that the more informed you are, the easier something becomes. So if you go into your goal-slaying journey with open eyes, the more aware you will of the potential challenges that you might face.
And that can help you prepare yourself, emotionally and mentally, so that you KNOW that there will inevitably be some challenges so that it doesn’t come as a surprise.
1 | Slaying Your Goals is Hard
Trying to keep it real over here. Goal-slaying won’t be all roses and daisies along the way. You are going to feel frustrated, discouraged and you’re going to want to quit.
Constantly remind yourself of the goal you want to achieve, but more importantly your WHY.
Why did you choose this goal? Why was this something that you wanted/want?
Goal-slaying is going to get hard and if you recognize that from the beginning, then half the battle is already fought.Goal-slaying is going to get hard and if you recognize that from the beginning, then half the battle is already fought Click To Tweet
Your plan won’t always follow through as you had planned. Things won’t work out the way you thought they would. You might not find the right answer or the right strategy immediately.
You might try an approach and it won’t work. Or you might not be able to stick to your plan.
Whatever the challenge might be, recognize it from NOW that it’s going to be hard and you’re going to have to put on your big-girl-pants and push through.
And even if it’s hard, it’s damn well worth it. And the harder it is, the prouder you will be when you will achieve your goal. And the harder it is, the more growth you will in yourself because it’s going to take emotional and spiritual energy to get through the hard times and to pull yourself through to keep on going.
2 | Slaying Your Goals Requires Consistency
You’re going to have to consistently make an effort towards reaching your goals, otherwise it’s going to take WAY too long to achieve it, or you simply won’t achieve your goal (sorry for the reality check).
What do I mean by consistency?
I mean making a DAILY effort towards your goal. Every choice and decision you make can bring you closer to your goal or bring your farther from it.
And it can be your choice of words, your mindset, how you choose to spend your time, whether you stick to your routine of reflecting every Sunday and planning your week.
Every decision you make must be done consciously by asking yourself “Is this bringing me closer to achieving my goal?”
You can’t set goals, create a plan, and then fulfill it half way, or start learning something and then not practice that skill. You have to continuously do it until it becomes a habit and you’re mastering it.
3 | Slaying Your Goals is Mindset Over Actions
What I’ve realized is that your mindset is more important than your actions, because your mindset and your thoughts will GUIDE your actions.
For example, for a while, I was making a consistent effort with exercising 5-6 times per week and I was eating healthy. However, I didn’t lose a single pound. Why? Because my mind was stressed the EFF out, which messed up my hormones and affected my body’s ability to burn the fat that I was trying to lose.
Instead, I could’ve have spent a bit less time at the gym and spend more time focusing on de-stressing my body by journaling more, practicing more self-care and mindfulness, then I would have seen the results quicker.
Your mindset will be the guiding force behind your actions and your ability to slay your goals.Your mindset will be the guiding force behind your actions and your ability to slay your goals Click To Tweet
If you believe that you WILL be successful, then your damn sure that your mind is going to remind you of that when you reach for that cookie when you shouldn’t be eating it.
If your mindset is “I will succeed and I will achieve my goals” then your subconscious will guide your thoughts and actions towards the things that you need to be doing to achieve your goals.
4 | Slaying Your Goals Means Your Goals Will Change
As you implement your goal-slaying strategy, you will begin to see what’s realistic and what isn’t.
Goal-slaying isn’t about the outcome but about the person you’re becoming during the process. And during the process, you are going to learn about yourself, you’re going to grow and you’re going to change. So it’s only normal that your goals might change. You might realize that you value your time more than working crazy hours to make more money.
Your goals will either change and you will create new and more inspiring goals, or you might just abandon a goal because you will realize that it’s not worth your energy and time anymore. And that’s okay because that’s part of the journey. You will realize what you truly cherish and what truly matters to you.

5 | Slaying Your Goals Takes Patience
Goal-slaying takes patience because things won’t go according to plan all the time. You will need patience to adjust your strategy as you implement it, to adjust your approach, to change your mindset
You will need patience to slay your goals because it won’t be as you planned and as you imagined it and you will need to adjust with time.
6 | Slaying Your Goals is About the Journey, Not the Destination
I mentioned this before but this is probably the most important point of them all.
It’s not only about the destination. Goal-slaying is not only about the goal that you accomplished. But it’s about the journey you took to get there. It’s about the person that you became during the process, what you learned about yourself, the skills you learned, the habits you built.
Goal-slaying is about the journey, and not the destination. Because it’s during the journey that you will grow into your true self.Goal-slaying is about the journey, and not the destination Click To Tweet
