Are you trying your best and you’re not slaying your goals? Here are 5 reasons why you’re not achieving your goals. A small shift can make a huge difference, so make sure to read through to see why you might not be achieving YOUR goals…yet!
Are you committed to your goals? Are you doing everything in your power to achieve them and zip…nothing is happening? You haven’t reached your goals or your milestones and you can’t figure out why?
Well, here are a few reasons why you’re not achieving your goals. I’m going to be giving you a bit of tough love because sometimes, you need that kick in the butt and be honest with yourself about WHY it’s not truly working so that you can figure out how to make it work for once. The struggle is part of the journey because it’s not only about the destination but it’s about the person you’re becoming in the process Click To Tweet
And full disclosure, I still struggle with some of these… and it’s OKAY! Because like I’ve said before, the struggle is part of the journey that we each need to take because it’s about the person you’re becoming in your goal-slaying journey, it’s not only about the destination.
1 | You’re Goal Isn’t Compelling Enough
Does achieving your goal make you giddy and give you butterflies? Do you get overwhelmed with excitement at the thought of achieving that goal?
If not, then your goal probably isn’t compelling enough.
If your goal isn’t inspiring and motivating enough to pull you through moments where you want to give up or moments where you lose track of the finish line, then your goal isn’t strong enough.Set goals that inspire you, that make you overwhelmed with excitement. Those positive emotions will the motivation to keep you going Click To Tweet
You need to find a goal that stirs up positive and exciting emotions in you. Goals that inspire you and empower you to motivate yourself to get off your ass to get sh*t done and to work on it.
If not, you will lose the motivation and the drive and eventually, you’ll give up or you’ll hit a plateau and then justify it to yourself so that you don’t feel bad about it. But guess what? You’re just making excuses and you’re not dealing with the real reason why it’s not working!
If you don’t know where to start to figure out how to uncover an inspiring and empowering goal, you should start with doing a Life Audit because this will give you a better overall perspective into your current life and it will help pinpoint some potential gaps. This is a good starting point because it will help you think about some areas in your life where you should set some goals that will fill in those gaps.
2 | Your Goal Isn’t Clear Enough
If I ask you about your goal, are you able to describe it? And I don’t mean describing it in one sentence. I mean going through the specifics, what it looks like concretely when it’s been achieved, what it means to you and how it feels.
If you can’t do that, then your goal isn’t clear enough.
If you don’t know the exact address of your destination, then how can you create a roadmap to get to it?
The clearer your goal, the more easily it will be to stay focused on it and the easier it will be to figure out a strategic plan to achieve it.
Not only will you be able to create a more effective goal-slaying strategy, but the clearer your goal, the easier it will be for your subconscious to help you stay focused on it and it will be working to help you on a daily basis to get you to that goal as well.
The more details you have about your goal, the better it is. And that includes specifics such as a measurable outcome (i.e. I want to lose 10 lbs), how it will feel to reach that goal (i.e. I will feel confident and healthy) and what it would mean to you (i.e. it would mean that I am healthy, full of energy and vitality, and that I have the body of my dreams).
If you say that you want to lose weight – how much is that? Because that could mean 1 lbs or it could mean 100 lbs. BE SPECIFIC! Because that will impact your game plan and creating an effective and realistic strategy to achieve it.
3 | You’re Not Tracking Your Progress
If you’re not tracking your progress, how will you know whether your strategy is working? Whether you’re progress is reasonable and realistic (i.e. not too slow) for the goal that you set?
You must track your progress because it will help assess your strategy to make sure that it’s as effective as possible. Tracking is also an important component of goal-slaying because you will be celebrating your milestones along the way rather than just waiting to celebrate and be happy at the finish line.Celebrate every small or big milestone in your goal-slaying journey! You need to celebrate your progress as you’re going because that will fuel your motivation to continue.

4 | You Haven’t Let Go of Your Limiting Beliefs
This is a big one and one reason why you’re not achieving your goals without you even necessarily realizing it.
Your limiting beliefs are thoughts and beliefs about yourself or your environment, about what’s possible and impossible. It’s the beliefs that will either fuel you or hold you back.
The tricky part with limiting beliefs is that they aren’t always obvious. They are sometimes subconscious beliefs that are affecting us without us realizing it.

For example, if your goal is to achieve a certain level of financial abundance, but your limiting beliefs around money are that: money is scarce, it’s hard to get rich and money will make you selfish and materialistic, then how do you think you will behave towards money? You will subconsciously be pushing it away and self-sabotaging to avoid living up to that limiting belief around money!
You need to continuously work on your mindset to uncover and overcome your limiting beliefs because otherwise, all your efforts will be for nothing if your mind is not aligned with your goals.Align your mind with your heart so that you can achieve your goals. 5 | You Haven’t Tapped Into Enough Resources
This is another reason why tracking is so important – if you see that you’re not progressing reasonably fast enough with your goals, then there’s something that you need to change in your strategy, and maybe one of the issues are that you haven’t tapped into enough resources to create an EFFECTIVE goal-strategy.
The more research you do about a topic and the more knowledgeable you become about it, the easier it will be to figure out the steps that you need to take to achieve your goal.
For example, if you are trying to become a yogi master, then you need to do enough research about what it will take to become a master, what classes you need to take, what the best schools are in your area, how much money you need to save to go to that school, what tools and resources you need to get you started right away … and the list goes on.
This compares to not doing enough research and just paying a random school for a class that doesn’t give you the certificate you need to be able to teach.
Do you see the difference between the first option where you’ve thought about as much detail as possible and planned for it?You have to truly believe, deep down in your soul, that you deserve and CAN achieve that goal for it to actually work Click To Tweet
Another advice that I have is to be open. As you’re doing research, think outside the box and find resources that you might not have thought of. If you’re open to it, then you will find the answers and the resources that you hadn’t thought of initially.
For example, I’m working towards a specific financial goal for 2018 and then another financial goal for 2019. Even though I have concrete steps about how I want to achieve those goals, through my research, I’ve heard about manifestation and the tool of visualization. So I dug a big deeper and discovered a resource and tool that I wouldn’t have thought of otherwise and I’ve been using it and IT WORKS!
There’s a lot in this post, I know, but don’t get overwhelmed! The fact that you’re here is the first step to figure out your goals!
If there was one place you should start, it would be to do the Life Audit because that will give you a better indication of potential gaps.
If you need more help in creating an effective strategy, this post would be useful.
