Monthly Goals and Practicing Self-Love

Setting monthly goals is a crucial part of staying on track throughout the year so that you can achieve and create what you want in your life. Sharing my monthly goals is my way of staying accountable and inspiring you to do the same. Take the time to discover what you want to achieve, how and.. DO IT!

Anyone else MIND-BLOWN at how fast 2017 went by?! I feel like it was just a few months ago that we were celebrating Christmas …. what the heck is happening?! Are we in a weird time warp that I’m not aware of? Can someone stop time please?!

This is the last blogpost on monthly goals for 2017 and I’m excited to wrap things up in a way because 2017 was a strange year (good and bad) and I have so many exciting goals and projects for 2018 that I can’t wait to share with you guys! In the meantime, let’s jump right into a quick recap of November before we dive into December goals.

{ November goals in review }

In some ways, November was a fail for the goals I had set. But more importantly (and also a more empowering way of looking at it), November was successful because I think I finally learned my lesson that I really need to slow down and take better care of myself on daily basis because the stress is starting to manifest itself in my health and that is…well… no Bueno.

I was sick for most of the month which explains why some of my goals weren’t reached. Not being to physically leave the house for 5 days before my birthday was a serious wake up that I need to step things up when it comes to self-care, which you will see reflected in my December goals.

{ BODY GOALS }

Yoga: This goal was somewhat reached. Even though it wasn’t on a weekly basis like I had planned, I was able to do a few yoga sessions at home. I’m going to try and do it more frequently because I see a noticeable difference in my mind and body when I stick to it.

Gym 4 times: This was a major fail but I’m accepting it because sleep and rest is just as important. I realized that I’ve had an unhealthy approach to working out where I’d be pushing myself to go when I really should have gone home to take a nap. The new mentality? Listen to my body, do what I can, and if I can’t, it’s OKAY! (I just need to stamp that on my forehead so I don’t forget it)

Fabfour: If you don’t know what I’m referring to, read this post first. I’m generally able to stick to my FabFour routine and I notice a significant difference when I do. So next month will be continuing on the same process and practicing mindful eating!

Mindful eating: It’s been a hit and miss this month on this one (mostly misses…) The great thing is that I see a clear connection between my sleeping habits and my anxiety management. The more tired I am, the harder it is to mange my anxiety and what I eat. I’m being kind with myself because November was a rough month but I’m happy that I’m now back on track when it comes to mindful eating AND the gym! Woop Woop!

Morning routine: Unless I was sick in bed, I’ve been testing out different morning routines and I’ve been loving it! It’s been really nice to ease myself into the day rather than jumping out of bed. With a few more tweaks, I think I’ll have the perfect morning routine down pretty soon!

Evening routine: I was also able to stick to a decent evening routine. I just need to be more consistent with limiting screen time.. oups.

Commute and podcast: My new obsession. I look forward to commuting because I have so many interesting and fun podcasts to listen to. If I’m perfectly honest with you, I think I’ve listened to almost 20-hours of the podcast Sword and Scale. I can’t stop. It’s to the point where I will take my headphones so that I can listen to it during the day when I take bathroom breaks at work. #OBSESSED

Meditate daily: This has been going well and I want to amp it up a notch next month and increase my daily meditation practices. I’m looking forward to this because it really helps me feel centered.

{ BLOG }

Set monthly goals: A work in progress but my hubby sat down with me and helped me a bit navigate my goals and dreams (and expectations haha). For 2018, I’m going to sit down and detail the goals and strategies on how I’m going to reach them.

Create freebies: I have TONS of ideas but haven’t made one yet that I feel is good enough to publish. But stay tuned..!

Website: Getting there!! I’m hoping to have my website updated by the end of the month!

Branding: Getting there too!! I’m excited about this part because I took some branding shots last weekend and I’m SO happy with how they turned out. Now it’s just a matter of editing, updating platforms and refining my branding even more.

{ OTHER }

Sister day: Unfortunately there were too many scheduling conflicts and a nasty cold going around so this didn’t happen but I’m hoping to organize something in December.

Lady Gaga: Have you seen her documentary on Netflix? It gave me a deeper appreciation for her as an artist which made it even more fun to see her concert. She’s an amazing performer!

Movie night: Harry Potter, popcorn, cozy blanket? Check, check and CHECK! There’s something comforting and magical (pun intended) about watching HP during the holiday season. My goal is to watch all the movies by Christmas and so far, I’m on track!

Birthdays: Both my hubby and I’s birthdays are in November so it’s been a fun but busy month! I’m rarely able to successfully surprise him but I was able to surprise him with his gifts this year which was really satisfying!

{ MIND }

Because of the physical signs of stress, my focus is going to be on self-care and self-love this month (once again!). My main focus is going to be my sleep because when I’m tired, my emotional management is not optimal, and then anxiety and stress follows. Lack of sleep also affect my ability to go to the gym which is probably the most effective stress management tool for me. So sleep is the foundation of everything and I’ve already started incorporating a range of natural remedies to help with me sleep and so far it’s been going well!

{ BODY }

With improved sleep, I want to get back on track with my yoga and gym. Being active has become a necessity for me. I feel SO happy when I’m able to exercise. Being at the gym is my alone time where I can take care of my body, push myself to try new things, while also working towards my fitness goals. I’ve been disappointed about not reaching my fitness goals but I’m positive that I’ll start seeing more results in 2018!

{ SOUL }

Even though I love my side hustle and I have plans to take it to the next level, I’m also being more conscious of feeding my soul in other ways. This means making time for family and close friends. With the holidays, it’s inevitable that there’s going to be a lot of social events which gives me things to look forward to.

{ BLOG }

December has already been really busy but I’m taking a more realistic approach to the blog and taking it one step at a time and trying to NOT stress myself out about it. I want to establish a strong foundation so that I can hit the ground running in 2018. More to come!

{ Self-Love Lesson }

Listen to yourself. Your body and soul will tell you what you need. If you need to have a pamper evening at home, do it. If you need a girl’s night out with your friends, do it. If you need to tone it down with the gym.. DO IT! If you give the space to listen to yourself, you have the answers in you already.
