High End Products Not Worth Buying-3

Some things are worth splurging on. Others are not. The good news is that you wont have to spend your money on these products because I did, so you won’t have to! Here are the top 5 high-end products not worth buying! Each product was disappointing for different reasons, especially for the price!

High End Products Not Worth Buying-4

{ Hourglass Ambient Lighting }

I held off on buying this palette for MONTHS because of the price (my partner in crime, Kristina, will attest to this!) and I was SO excited when I finally got it. This was quickly followed with disappointment. I don’t know if I haven’t used it correctly but I’ve used with a full face of foundation, with tinted moisturizer on my face, or even with minimal face powder, thinking that the highlight would show up differently, but nothing. It barely shows up on my skin, which is so disappointing (and useless…). I know there’s been a big hype for this palette, but I’m not a fan and wouldn’t recommend splurging on it.

High End Products Not Worth Buying-6

{ Josie Maran | Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Veil }
I have a slight obsession with highlighters because they make such a big difference on making your face look more lively and healthy looking. This highlight barely has any color payoff and doesn’t do very much on my face. I like a highlighter that can be seen, but doesn’t require a lot of product. I had to pack on this highlighter and it barely showed up.

High End Products Not Worth Buying-7

{ Bite Beauty | Agave Lip Mask }

I was looking for a lip mask to put on before bed so that my lips are soft by morning. I’ve been using Vaseline for the longest, but wanted to switch for something more natural. I love Bite beauty lipsticks, and thought the mask would be great to try, but my skin doesn’t absorb the product. I wake up and the mask is still sitting on my lips.

High End Products Not Worth Buying-8

{ BareMinerals | Highlighting Concealer }

I was looking for a setting powder that would double up as a highlighter to brighten up the under-eye area. I had high hopes for this concealer, because I usually love BareMinerals products. But it didn’t do very much, other than crease my UD concealer when it usually doesn’t.

High End Products Not Worth Buying-9

{ Too Faced | Boudoir Eyes Soft & Sexy Eyeshadow palette }

The texture of these eyeshadows are buttery, but I got bored really quickly with the color selection. The color payoff isn’t terrible, but I found that when applied on my eyelids, a few of them looked similar, and I just didn’t feel as though I was able to do many eye looks with this palette. I had to add a lot of product for it to show up a tiny bit on my eyes.

Thanks for the feedback! Hope it helped :) Have you used any of these products? Any products that you’ve tried and that I should be avoiding?

Glad I could help you save some money haha. I’m still using both of those products because I don’t want my money to go to waste, but I would definitely not recommend them!

Agreed!!! I had heard amazing reviews for some of these, and others, I just liked it in store. But until you take it home yourself and try it, it’s hard to say what’s worth it and what’s not! Hopefully you were able to get some insight! I’d love to hear some recommendations of products I should avoid!

This was a very helpful post! Sometimes when you see all these positive reviews and hype, it’s like it’s almost too good to be true. I think it’s always good to hear both sides of a product. Great post! :)

I’m glad you enjoyed it! Although I appreciate good reviews and getting ideas of things that I want to try, until you try it yourself, you won’t know whether it really is worth the hype, and unfortunately, these products were not worth it, so I’m glad I can offer some useful advice!

Awh, it’s too bad these didn’t work out for you! I think it’s even more difficult when you’ve spent a lot for a product to not work out. Did you get these from Sephora? I think they have a very lenient return policy that should work even if you’ve used the products!

I haven’t had many regrettable purchases (yet), as I spend a ton of time reading all the reviews online! The closest thing I’ve come to disappointment would be when I bought the Naked 2 Basics palette and wasn’t expecting how small it was.

Sephora does have a pretty good return policy but I don’t know what happens to the product after so I don’t like ‘wasting’…sounds crazy but I feel bad if the product goes to the garbage because that’s not environmentally sustainable, so I figure that although it’s disappointing that it doesn’t yield the results that I want, I am still going to use it.

Naked 2 basics was also disappointing for me, but more because of the shades rather than the size. I have the first palette and I love that one, so I knew what the size would be. The thing about that palette is that the product is so pigmented that you technically use less product anyway!

Always a nice change to hear about things people aren’t liking- can be just as informative as rave reviews! I really love the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders- but they definitely create a much more subtle, soft-focused effect than more in-your-face highlighters :)

Thanks for the feedback Jen! I also love rave reviews as much as like less-than-good reviews! Both give an insight that I like!

And although the ambient lighting powder is beautiful, that’s exactly the issue – I was expecting a in-your-face highlighter! I’m wondering if I should the middle powder as an all-over my face light dusting to set my foundation… thoughts?

Thanks for stopping by!

I loved this post! You always see what people love but never the bad stuff. I am so picky about my makeup and take forever to pick something new so I’m glad to be warned of these!

Have a great weekend dear!
